Ms. Makinda is CEO and Founder of drumsticksnlipstick, an organization of woman drummers created to empower woman through community service, advocacy, and mentorship. A talented hard working single mother and driven entrepreneur from Flint Michigan, Makinda created the organization with a mission to help women who have been battered , abused and impoverished to find hope. Makinda is an accomplished professional drummer. she has performed with the likes of grammy-award winning artists Maurice Mobetta Brown, Yarbrough&Peoples, Bernard Wright, and gospel artists Juanita Bynum, and Myron Williams. she’s been featured on American Buisness Television and many other media outlets. she was invited to participate in the national Drum off competition. Drumsticksnlipstick offers career and employment services, counseling and mentoring, and uses the platform of music, live events and concerts to connect women to mentors who can inspire them to reach their dreams. Through drumsticksnlipstick her goal is to connect women drummers from across the globe to create a powerful force to spread hope, confidence, combat domestic violence and create positive change that gives women access to greater resources to improve life.
